Sorry, Moderators, I know this forum is intended only for those who are seeking pups. But my gosh, there are some absolutely LOVELY GWPs awaiting rescue through Petfinder.com, and I'm unable to post on the RESCUE forum.

As someone who has only ever had rescues, I want to urge all of those looking for pups to consider taking in a rescue. Yes, I've often considered the benefits of starting with a young pup, but there is NOTHING on earth that is better than bringing in a rescue. They are often the most amazing dogs ever (and you don't have to go through that whole puppy chewing, housetraining ordeal!).

The GWPs that find themselves on Petfinder.com are awesome, stunning dogs, not neccesarily "discarded" because of faults or problems, but simply because their owners didn't realize what they were getting into by getting a pup or a GWP.

Please please PLEASE go to Petfinder.com, type in "wirehaired pointer" and definitely do a "National" search. Yes, there are a lot of GWP-mixes, but there are just as many gorgeous purebreds.

Please take a moment...reconsider...and open your heart and home.

No problem Illona! This is a perfect place for suggesting our readers consider a rescue! There are also some new dogs listed on the GWP site under the rescue section.

as we were having problems with people posting their puppies up there as "rescues." That area is reserved for the rescue contacts to post the dogs they have available.
