Not sure if this goes in hunting category, but since I bought him to hunt figured I'd post here. Have a 7.5 month old male, we have woods and fields surrounding us so we take him out often. Minute we're out his nose is to the ground searching. What he searches for is any type of animal dropping. I mean from deer, raccoon, turkey, coyote and everything else imaginable. He searches hard! Here's the part where I have most my problem, everything he finds he eats. He usually responds well when called, but with this stuff in his mouth he's off to the races till through swallowing. Hopefully this is a passing phase like chewing on rocks. Is this normal?
Bird training has been a slow proccess, some books say to just introduce and not worry about training till after a year. Think I'll speed it up a notch, maybe this will get his mind and nose pointing in the right direction.
All thought appreciated _________________ COLD IN WAUSAU
