I think there was a thread somewhere on here about an invisible fence. I have one that I originally bought for my lab and just purchased an extra collar for the GWP. It is good insurance for any breed of dog.

| Not knowing where you live be it rural or city, invest in a good five-foot chain link fence. The peace of mine it will give is worth every penny you put into it. It will provide a safe place to train and exercise an unpredictable pup. I know of no electric fence that will stop a GWP that is after a rabbit. Not going through the lost a dog due to roadway accident, a fence is a small price to pay. |

hi
are you saying that you have no fence right now at all?
If that is the case, I am not sure I know too many breeders who would sell you a pup without having a safe, secure place for the pup to exercise. I personally would not trust an invisible fence, especially if you live in an area with either a lot of traffic near or even a lot of wildlife. As a dog trainer, I have seen many a high prey dog go right through the fencing system after a coyote or deer and just take the shock and keep going. The other side of that type of fencing is that it does not keep other animals off of your property. A pup would be vulnerable to other dogs, coyotes, etc.
If you are going to use invisible fencing for your property, you should also have a safe secure, fenced in area for the dog as well, especially while he is young. An older dog like your wemi doesn't have the same desire to wander and establish territory as a young dog and a young dog has a lot less impulse control then a mature dog.
It's a great breed of dog to own, if you'd like more info or help, feel free to contact me and I will help you
