Remington and I are just getting started in agility and find this breed to be very good in the sport even though you do not see to many of them competing. He does everything great but sometimes that nose gets in the way and he likes to stop and smell in the tunnel or chute. Does anyone have any good agility tips.

Hi,
You will have a blast with your wire in agility. I run both of mine here in Colorado - there is one other lady in the area that runs also. When my 12 yr old male was young & intact it was a constant battle to keep him moving forward - I found out that if I kept moving towards the next obstacle - he would follow me instead of smelling, he has the following agility titles: NA NAJ NAP NJP & two legs towards his Open standard preferred.
My young female is four this year & she does not seem to be so interested in smelling - she watches me and sometimes she likes to look at her adoring public! I too have found out if you keep moving & telling where to go they will follow.
Have fun

yup, i bet you're having a blast with remington out there on the course. we did a little agility...but my girl spent one summer recovering from a 13-stitch slice to her main front pad, and the next summer i had a shattered ankle. don't think i'll ever be in the kind of shape i'd need to be to run with this girl on the agility field.
when it comes to wires on the course, i bet the trick is a couple drops of pheasant scent on the contacts.
by the way, remington is gorgeous!!
best of luck

We are so excited, Remington earned his first leg towards his Novice JWW title and this was his second show. Thanks Illona for the compliment.
Check out my website, we have an upcoming litter with Remington and Dana.
