| what are the pros and cons of getting a male over female? Not planning on breeding; will be more of a family dog vs. a hunting dog; and we live in an apt but spend most of our time outside.....any insight would be greatly appreciated. |

| I believe it depends on the dog. I just happen to have a male - he is a couch potato indoors, well-mannered gentleman, couldn't ask for a better family dog. He also gets a lot of outdoor stimulous and exercise including a "wild area" we've kept in our backyard. We also take him to a farm so he can work in the field. I could not deny him the chance of getting to work even if in a training park - it is a wonderful thing to watch. |

Hi,
In response to your question - boy vs girl - I have one of each - the male was a whole lotta dog when he was young - he is now 12 yrs old and still likes to get out to rock n roll. My female is 4 yrs old - she is a little easier to deal with - but she tends to be more stubborn then my male.
You did not mention if you ever have owned a dog? If you have = than either sex would be fine as long as you plan on getting them fixed at an early age. If you have never had a dog - then I would stick with the female.
Good Luck,
