Roan as a color is perfectly acceptable and there are a lot of roan dogs.
Roan is basically a solid colored dog with white guard hairs running through the coat.
Ticked is a mix of white and liver hairs (or black) that is roughly 50% of each color. A ticked dog looks sort of "spotted".
It's sometimes difficult to tell when they are very little what color they will end up being. Wires are born pretty white (except for the solid livers) and then darken as they age.
Have fun with you puppy! They grow up too fast. |
