Yes, this is very possible. You have a "shorthair" type that can occur due to the genetics of the breed. Your breeder probably realized this when he/she sold you the pup. Unless, you had intended to breed, this will have no affect on the dog's ability. You may actually enjoy the lower maintenance with such a dog.
By the time pups are 7-8 weeks old, it is very evident which pups are more likely "shorthair" types. Although a few pups may fool you by developing short whiskers later on, the absence of any whiskers as well as any feathering between the toes or ear fringe indicates a higher likelihood that a pup will be a "shorthair" type. But, I've known a few folks that prefer them. |
