We have recently rescued a female that is supposed to be a Griffon, but it also looks like a GWP. How do you tell the difference between the two breeds?

If you don't have one of each (GWP and WPG) side by side, it can be difficult sometimes to tell the difference.
In general, a WPG will have a blockier head and a blockier body than a GWP. They will carry a softer head coat and longer body coat... but, I have seen WPG's with short tight coats on both head and body.
Color wise, WPG will be liver and white, but usually it's a lighter more washed out liver than a GWP has, or should have. You will never see a Black and white WPG, they don't come in BW.

What makes it tough, is that some GWP's also have many of the WPG traits (comes from WPG's being a foundation breed of the GWP).

Temperment wise, I would say a WPG is a bit more laid back and a bit softer.

Not sure this will help you too much, if you can have someone knowledgable in both breeds take a look at your dog, they may be able to help.
