Currently researchers are trying to find a DNA cause to epilepsy. There are many breed specific research projects ongoing and some that include all breeds.

Research is ongoing at University of Michigan on nonspecific breeds for finding a DNA link to this disease.

The best thing any GWP owner can do for this breed is to participate in research to help find a DNA component and help find ways of breeding this out.

If you have a dog that has epilepsy, ask your Veterinian to contact University of Michigan and participate in the research.
