Well, we've had Sheamus for over a month now, and he is doing great!

He was trimmed pretty short when we got him, and his hair is getting longer now, so, we have been trying to brush him once a week to keep his hair clean....

We currently have a brush that looks like:

Sheamus hates it! (He liked it the first time, but, since then, he just hates it!)

Is that the right type of brush to be using? If not....can you please give us some suggestions/pictures of what we should be using?

I would talk to a groomer they are great sources of info.

Best thing is a (striping knife) not comb though it looks like like a comb.
go on net-keyword stripping knife. You can even hand pluck your dog your dog every 4- months or so to remove dead hair. Its easy dog likes it. Then clean with a finishing comb.

dog loves it too.

Those wire slicker brishes can be pretty harsh on the skin- try it out on your own arm sometime- if you make the mistake of pressing down while brushing it can abrade the skin- which is why a lot of dogs hate them. Stripping knives work well, but just a good quality bristle brush does the job of just maintenance pretty well- the Mars strippers work well on dogs that you dont intend to show- it cuts the coat, and will soften it quickly- but if you arent showing and its just a pet- no big deal- I would think if its a hunting partner that the Mars tool would affect the coats versatility and protection qualities too. If you get a stripping knife and take the coat down short, you will be doing very little brushing anyhow.... Fuz
