| I ran into another hunter with a wirehair while duck hunting on Saturday. I always enjoy that and we talked for a while. In my 3 decades of duck hunting they are the only one of the versatile pointing breeds that I have encountered in the field during duck season. This makes the fourth time I have met another hunter enjoying the versatility of a wirehair on a public duck hunting area. Mostly you see labs and I have seen a couple of chesapeake bay retrievers and a couple of goldens. My wirehairs are the match of my friends labs during duck season but there is no comparison when we are hunting quail or woodcock. There the wirehairs have greater range, endurance, and speed. I much prefer it when they leave their labs at home on quail hunts because they contribute nothing to the hunt and mostly just get in the way. For hunting ducks and quail you just can't beat a good wirehair. |

It's great that you are using your Wire for waterfowl and it's even better that you see others doing the same.
And to think.... all we ever hear is how we have taken this versatile breed and taken the water work and retrieving out of it. Keep up the good work, and keep encouraging others to get their GWP's out there to the duck pond! |
