|If it is, I would sure hope that the Board of Directors enforces disciplinary action against them.
We are a small shelter in southern NJ, about 45 minutes SE of Philadelphia. Our investigators have just been involved in a cruelty investigation on a property where a single person owns 11 GSP and GWP. Right now it looks like there is only 1 GSP who is about 6 months old, but we're not sure that he's the only one. We do know that 10 of them are GWPs.
Why I'm contacting you - to ask if you have any open space for these animals should they meet any criteria you have when considering dogs for intake. The man wants to relinquish custody of all 11 dogs, and frankly our shelter does not have the room to hold these dogs all at once. The owner is willing to give a few up at a time - we have 3 coming in today - but the conditions the dogs are living in are delporable and the sooner they leave his care the better. We seldom have GSPs in, but the few we have had take quite a while to place, and often face being euthanized simply because we don't have space to hold them. We are a stray contracting shelter as well as an SPCA, and so we never know what our contract cities may bring in to us at any given time.
We currently have 2 3yr old female GWP and the 6mo old male GSP here in the building. I can send you pictures if you like. All are friendly, but the pup has no clue how to walk on a leash, or how to enjoy physical attention - looks like they were all just out back pen dogs with only contact as feeding and collecting pups when they were born.
Any help you could provide would be appreciated. If I could ask a favor, if you could forward this out to anyone in your rescue circle that may be able to help that would be appreciated. We understand you all are working with limited (and often non-exsistant) space, and will totally understand if you are unable to help in any way. We just wanted to reach out to you on the chance you could help or be able to put us in touch with someone who could.
Please contact by email only, as the front desk is swamped with calls due to another high-publicity cruelty case in the area recently. They also have no information about the GSP/GWP situation, as it is an ongoing cruelty investigation.
Thanks a million,
