My favorite stud dog in all the world didn't have a whisker til he was 7 months old. However he did show some feathering between his pads (bottom of feet) and slight ear fringe. At 2, he had one of the best coats I have ever seen. Much of coat maturation has to do with the genetics and the breeding line which your breeder may be able to comment on.
Everytime a breeder "justifies" breeding a dog that does not have the "core" characteristics of the breed-whether that is performance, temperament or physical attributes-they condemn other breeders or owners to deal with the consequences. EVERY breeding has some compromise, but at the core is temperament, ability and the physical ability and equipment to do the job. No breeder should compromise these, IMO. |
