If you are looking for a GWP as a pet and companion for your family, please take a look at the Rescue section.
The vast majority of these dogs are there through no fault of their own, but rather to illness or divorce of families that owned them Unfortunately some are there because people "thought" they wanted a GWP and didn't do their homework before getting that cute little puppy. Now it's grown up, not quite so cute, and has become work.
Right now, there are about 6 under 1 yr old dogs out there looking for homes on the east coast.
With an older dog you know what you have. You know what it's temperment is, an isn't. You know what it will look like, what it's coat will be. Most are already spayed and neutered, crate trained and haave some obedience training. Some have been hunted, some have had professional field training.
Puppies are cute, fun, cuddley...... but they all grow up!
