As far as I know AKC pointing dog hunt tests are open to all pointing dogs and you can enter any club's test. I have never heard of a closed hunt test but I guess it is possible. Navhda tests are the same way (open), if you get your entry fee in well before the test, I am talking months before the test.

One thing about picking folks that have the best trained dogs. There are a number of ways/methods to train a versatile pointing dog. My thoughts are, you need to choose the type of training that you will & can be comfortable with, especially if your intentions are to play games.

Hi,

The GWPC of WI will be holding an AKC Hunt Test for Pointing Breeds in March. The location is the Ottawa Field Trial Grounds in Eagle, WI.

About the only time that you will see a "closed" HT is during the GWPCA Nationals.
