GERMAN WIREHAIRED POINTER CLUB OF AMERICA
December 1, 2004 Teleconference Board meeting

Meeting commenced at 8:30PM EST with all Board members being present on this call. (Mal Decker, Liz Dixon, Mike Hemphill, Sue Mueller, Barb Tucker, Laura Reeves and Barb Tucker)

Minutes of past meetings were approved prior to being sent to the News Letter. Treasurer’s report will be published in the News Letter.

Agenda Items
A. New Clubs- Southern area has enough people interested, but so far nothing has been started. Darby’s to be contacted by Mal for any further update.

Guy and Lori Rezzardi are interested in starting a new club in Southern Illinois. They are also contemplating holding a Field Trial in Southern IL as either a regional or Parent Club event?

Mike reported that the Central Oregon GWPC is active and will be holding a Hunt Test this spring.

B. Standard Review Committee –Should we survey members, comments on other Items presented to the Board.

After much discussion on questions to be submitted by the Committee, which will be published in the Wire News, Laura made a motion to” have the Standard Review Committee submit questions, not more than 10, seeking membership input regarding the Standard revision. These questions to be published in the Spring issue.” Mike seconded the motion. Motion passed.

The next discussion was regarding the word, Crisp in regards to describing the Wire texture of the coat. Also discussion on keeping the size numbers in the Standard as opposed to using the word”medium sized”.

Vote was taken on using the word Crisp to describe the coat texture, Board voted 6-1 against using the word Crisp to describe the coat. The Board felt that the words “wire-like in texture” is more descriptive.

Vote taken on leaving the size numbers in the Standard passed unanimously.

Mark asked Mike to please check with Rocky as to chairing the committee. Mike agreed to call Rocky regarding this and to see if he had a suggestion as to who would chair the committee? The Board’s recommendation at this time is Ercoli.

Letter from Jacqueline Pompii that was sent to the Board was discussed.
Jacqueline was asking to take over the job of finding donations to help support our Nationals. Sue made the suggestion that she work with the Chair of the club hosting the Nationals so that she could develop some guidelines and protocol for the next couple of years. Laura is to formulate a few paragraphs for this. Sue to contact Art Armbrust in regards to contacts for catalogs.

Stud Book Information: As of August 2004 the Stud Book is no longer being published. It now is being sent electronically to a designated person from each
Parent Club. Barb Tucker is the GWPCA designated person. Should any member want a copy please contact her and she will send you one.

Versatility Committee: The question is is there a committee and if so, who is the Chairperson? Charles Kissinger and Laura Myles are on the committee. What is the original purpose of this committee? Greg Dubois gave Mark a lengthy paper regarding ideas for this committee, so Mark will contact Greg to see if he is interested in getting this process restarted and in chairing this committee?

SEAC(Show Events Advisory Committee) According to Sue Degraw the Committee has been very unresponsive. Therefore, a list of judges will be in the next Wire News for membership to vote on for the Judge for the 2006 National Specialty. Mark said he will talk to Sue regarding where the committee is at this time.

Correspondence: A request has been received form CHF ( Canine Health
Foundation) and AKC regarding getting donations from each Parent Club to do studies on Autoimmune Thyroiditis in Purebred dogs. They are asking each club for $2500.00 over a 2 year period. The Board discussed this and the importance of this study in regards to the health of our breed. Laura made a motion to support this by donating $1000.00 per year for 2 years. Mike seconded the motion. Motion passed.

AKC requested a list of all the DVM’s in our club. This list was sent to AKC several months ago.

C. 2005 Nationals: Letter was sent from the Twin Cities for budget. Sue said at this time they do not need any money.

2006 Nationals: The Board voted to accept the bid of the GWPC of Southern California for the 2006 Nationals. Letter will be sent by the secretary to Ellis Hertz regarding the acceptance of their bid.

Mark discussed the offer of a custom Limited Edition gun with the GWP logo to be purchased and then raffled off at Nationals. More information has been requested by the Board.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:15 PM.
